How is the power of permanent magnet synchronous motor produced?

How is the power of a permanent magnet synchronous motor generated? Compared with an asynchronous motor, what is the difference in the way that a permanent magnet synchronous motor generates power? This time, I will take you to answer one by one.

In AC asynchronous motors, the formation of the rotor magnetic field is divided into two steps: the first step is that the stator rotating magnetic field first induces current in the rotor windings. The second step is to induce current and then generate the rotor magnetic field.

Under the action of Lenz's law, the rotor follows the rotating magnetic field of the stator, but can never catch up, so it is called an asynchronous motor.

If the current in the rotor winding is not induced by the rotating magnetic field of the stator, but generated by the stator itself, the rotor magnetic field has nothing to do with the rotating magnetic field of the stator and the direction of the stator. The poles are fixed.

The rotating magnetic field will pull the rotor to rotate and make the rotor magnetic field rotate synchronously with the rotating magnetic fields of the rotor and the stator.

This is how a synchronous motor works.

According to the different ways in which the rotor self-generates the magnetic field, synchronous motors can be divided into two types:

One method is to connect the rotor windings with an external DC excitation current, and then generate the rotor magnetic field from the excitation current, and then make the rotor and stator magnetic fields rotate synchronously. This kind of synchronous motor that generates the rotor magnetic field from the excitation current is called an excitation synchronous motor.

Second, the magnetic field can be directly generated by inserting permanent magnets on the rotor, without excitation current or induced current.Such a synchronous motor that generates a rotor magnetic field from a permanent magnet is called a permanent magnet synchronous motor.
